Welcome to new Reception intake 2020
Tue 05 May 2020Welcome Reception September 2020
We would like to welcome all our new families who are joining Woodgate and thank those who may already have brothers and sisters attending school, for continuing their journey with us.
We are very much looking forward to meeting your children and working in partnership with you to ensure that all the children have a happy and successful education here at Woodgate.
Due to the nature of the circumstances that we find ourselves in at this current time, induction for our new children may have to look very different this year. Unfortunately, we may not be able to offer our usual programme of meetings and visits. However, we will do our best to make your child's transition into school a happy one.
We aim to give you as much information as we possibly can. We are currently open for key workers at this time and we will update you on our plans for induction visits dependent on guidance from the Government.
Should you have any queries or require further information or support please do not hesitate to contact us on 0121 464 2315. You can also contact myself, Mrs Turner EYFS Lead via my email address z.turner@woodgate.bham.sch.uk We are currently operating on limited staff but will get back to you as soon as possible.

Mrs Colley is shaving her head for the NHS!
Fri 01 May 2020Yes! You read that right. Mrs Colley will be shaving all of her hair off to raise money for the NHS during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The NHS have been working tirelessly to keep us all safe during these dangerous times and Mrs Colley wanted to a way to raise as much money as possible. So next week she will have her head shaved in front of the key worker and vulnerable children that school have continued to look after during lock down.
Please help her raise as much money as possible. Click on the link and donate whatever you can afford. Please share the link on your social media platforms so as many people as possible can support her.
Thank you Mrs Colley. You are very brave and have the full love and support of the whole Woodgate family. Thank you to all of our families who work in the NHS, social care and other key roles. We are all very proud of you.
Stay Safe

Update Friday 24th April
Fri 24 Apr 2020Hello to all children and parents.
We are coming to the end of week 5 of this very strange school closure. We are all missing our normal routines, particularly being in school with our friends every day. Those staff and children that are in school are enjoying the opportunity to socialise safely and engage in learning.
If you are at home there are daily Maths and English lessons being uploaded each week. If you cannot access a computer to download this work we can print it off for you to collect. If you do come to school to collect work , please exercise social distancing if there are other people in the reception area. Just wait outside and we will let you in one family at a time. Remember you can email the teachers with any queries or just to say hello. They love hearing from their children.
Free school Meal vouchers have been processed by school so please do not phone school to check where these are. They will be distributed automatically to your email address each week if you are entitled to them.
We have uploaded a support guide for managing anxiety if any of the children are feeling anxious or worried about what is happening at this time, you can find it on both the children and parents sections of the website. Hoping that we will all be together again soon.
Stay Safe.
All Best wishes
Debbie Colley

Update on Home Learning Tasks
Mon 20 Apr 2020Hello Everyone
I hope that you are all keeping well in these very difficult times.
Although school is open for a small number of children, it is very strange and we can't wait to get back to normal. I remain hopeful that we will be back to normal before the end of the school year so that we can all prepare for moving up to our new classes together and so that we can say a proper farewell to our Year 6 children.
I hope that lots of you have been accessing the home learning activities that teachers have been uploading each week.
From Thursday this week the teachers will be uploading Maths and English lessons to make sure that basic skills are being practised and improved on during this extended absence. Please do encourage your children to complete something each day. If you are unable to access the activities and would rather collect a paper work pack each week, please contact school and we will prepare one for you to collect, providing enough Maths and English activities for a week at a time.
If your child has run out of reading books to read, we have a good supply of books available to come and take or even better swap with a book you have finished.
Remember school is open and there is someone to take your queries each day so please ring if you need anything.
In the meantime, stay safe and keep well.
All best wishes
Mrs Colley
