• Christmas through the Keyhole

  Infant classes have enjoyed learning about the Nativity story through our interactive zones. There are 6 zones that represent scenes from the story, including Joseph's workshop, The Magi's observatory, The Shepherd's field and of course the stable in Bethlehem. The children have travelled the journey and been immersed in the story. Knowing the  story of Christmas and the reasons Christians celebrate it is an important part of our curriculum.

• Queen's Commonwealth Canopy

  This morning we took delivery of five saplings as part of the 'Queen's Commonwealth Canopy' project. Fifty thousand trees will be planted across the UK to form part of a network of global forest conservation initiatives to mark Her Majesty's lifetime of service to the Commonwealth. The saplings were delivered by Preet Kaur Gill M.P. and received by our Head Boy and Girl and Deputy Head Boy and Girl. We will be planting them soon and will enjoy watching them grow - a small part of the fight against climate change.

  

• Woodgate Memory Garden

  Our Memory Garden was opened by Councillor John Lines, The Deputy Lord Mayor, on Tuesday afternoon. Jonathan Dakin from Education Staffing Link, who sponsored the sculpture centrepiece, also joined us. Rev. Ruth from St. Michael's Church blessed the garden while governors, staff, pupils and all present braved the wind and rain. Teachers have taken their classes to visit the memory garden this week. Parents and families are warmly welcomed to come and see it. We intend for it to be used as a place of quiet contemplation and reflection.

  After the ceremony, all concerned enjoyed tea and cakes, and entertainment from Woodgate Voices Choir.

  

• Whole School Attendance.

  Congratulations to everyone that has maintained or improved their own attendance levels. As a result of school, children and parents working together on this issue, current whole school attendance is 96.6% which is in line with national standards. Well Done!   

• Poppy Appeal

  We raised £171.24 for the Royal British Legion Poppy appeal this year. Thank you to everyone that bought a poppy in school and wore it with pride.

  

• Children in Need

• Parents' Consultations

  Thank you to everyone that came to meet their child's class teacher last night. There were many  parents and children who were proud of their achievements. If you haven't yet seen your child's teacher please contact school to make an appointment as soon as possible.

• Woodgate Voices Star Performers

  Our Choir, 'Woodgate Voices' have delivered two wonderful performances this week. Yesterday they led our Remembrance Afternoon with poetry and songs. The event was well attended and enjoyed by parents, grandparents and Governors. It was a thought provoking and moving performance.

  Today they have been to Bartley Green Social Club to perform to a group of local residents. A great time was had by all including a sing a long of many old war songs including 'Pack up your Troubles', 'We'll Meet Again' and 'White Cliffs of Dover'. The children looked wonderful in their new Choir T shirts with their own logo. We are very proud of them.

• It's Good to be Green!

  If your child brought home one of these certificates today you should be very proud of them. It means that they have been on Green or Gold on the Behaviour Zone board at least 90% of the time this half term. Well done to everyone that achieved this.  Lots of children have been on Green or Gold every single day!

  

• Whole School Attendance.

  Whole school attendance is improved on this last time last year. We are currently 96.4% which is in line with national figures. Well done to everyone for really trying to improve attendance this term. The children are talking about attendance and want to win the class trophy and the cakes each Friday. They also love getting their 100% attendance gold sticker each week. Keep up the fantastic start!
