Important reminders
Fri 17 Oct 2025Good Morning
Please could you take note of the following reminders:
Dogs MUST NOT be brought on to the school site - no matter how small they are.
Children MUST NOT ride scooters or bikes in the school grounds. A pregnant lady almost got knocked over yesterday by a child on a scooter. We also have lots of little children including toddlers on the school grounds before and after school who could suffer a serious injury if they were knocked over.
Vaping and smoking is NOT PERMITTED on school grounds.
Parking and driving was particularly worrying on Trimpley Road this morning.
Please allow enough time for your journey so that you are not rushing and tempted to park your car in an unsafe place. Please also think carefully about where you are reversing, particularly when parked on the pavements.
I am seriously concerned that if driving and parking does not improve then one of our school community, a child or a parent, is going to be knocked over and seriously hurt. That would be catastrophic.
Please, can we all play our part in making school a safe place for the children -and if a member of senior staff asks you to move your car, or slow down, please treat them respectfully, rather than with abuse. We are simply trying to make the school run safe for everyone.
Thank you for your support in these matters.

Thankyou
Fri 10 Oct 2025Dear Parents
Thank you to everyone that supported Macmillan Coffee Morning last week, whether through joining us for a coffee and cake, sending in donations of cakes, or sending in money for their child to buy a cake. We raised £206.10p for Macmillan Cancer Support.
We also had a wonderful 2 day Book Fair. The children enjoyed a pottery demonstration and then had the opportunity to buy a book. It was lovely to see so many parents in Book Fair after school. The commission that we earn is used to contribute towards the cost of buying every child a book at Christmas time, one of our Woodgate traditions.
I hope you have enjoyed looking at the wonderful Scarecrows in school. Have you spotted the WWII Soldier and Evacuee, Scarecrow's wedding, the 3 blind Mice, The Gruffalo, The Very hungry Caterpillar or Ann Boleyn and Henry VIII?
Feel free to have a walk around the grounds after school one afternoon and find them all!
Have a good weekend and enjoy the mild weather while it lasts.
Mrs Colley

Christmas News
Tue 03 Dec 2024Good Morning
December has arrived!
Toy Collection
We are going to do our annual toy collection and make up gift bags for families that are struggling this Christmas and would benefit from a little help.
If you can donate a toy, a book, some stationery or some toiletries for children please just send your item into the school office and we will collate whatever we get to make some gift bags. Please, if you donate used or pre-loved items make sure they are in excellent condition.
Christmas Cards
If your child want to send Christmas cards this year, instead of sending lots, which can be costly, just ask them to write 1 card for all of their class or to the whole school. We are going to have large display boards in school so that children and staff can pin up their Christmas cards for everyone to read.
Raffle Tickets
Raffle tickets for the hampers and other prizes will go on sale on Wednesday 4th December. They cost 20p a ticket or £1 for a strip. You can buy tickets from staff on the doors or at the office. All monies raised go into school fund to be spent on the children. The raffle will be drawn on Thursday 19th December.

Road Safety around School - Urgent Message
Wed 21 Feb 2024URGENT MESSAGE!
Congestion, parking and driving in Lutley Grove yesterday morning and today was really concerning. It was chaotic and resulted in near misses. Yesterday one car actually did scrape alongside another vehicle.
The situation really is becoming ridiculous. Parents are shouting at each other and children are walking in the middle of the road instead of on the pavement.
Some parents park up and sit in the car for a considerable amount of time before bringing their child in or sending them in. Please do not do this as you are taking a space for longer than necessary and this makes it more congested and reduces space for turning.
Children are capable of walking a few metres. The car does not need to come right up to the gates. Park further down and let them walk. Most children in Yr4, Yr 5 and 6 can be trusted to walk into the playground and into school without an adult. We have school adults on the gates and on each door into school. Consider a drop and go, rather than coming in with them. This would significantly reduce congestion.
The situation is always worse on wet todays such as today - but this is still not an excuse for driving and parking badly. If children have adequate coats on, they can walk a few metres in the rain.
I will be speaking with the police again about what actions they can take to make the roads outside school safer for all. This may include prosecution for those parking illegally.
Please, be sensible, be thoughtful and be kind. We are all part of the same school community and if one of our children gets hurt we will never forgive ourselves when it can so easily be avoided.
Thank You
Mrs Colley.

Safe Parking and Driving
Tue 09 Jan 2024Important Safety Notice:
Dear Parents
This morning at both entrances to school, Lutley Grove and Trimpley Road, there have been near misses where children have narrowly escaped being hit by a moving car.
Once again, I appeal to everyone to drive slowly and carefully around school, park further away if it is safer to do so. Take extra care when reversing and please do not reverse in the entrance to Ludford road opposite the school gates.
If you are walking to school and crossing roads, please take extra care, hold your child's hand and look before crossing in a safe and sensible place.
It would be a tragedy if one of our children or parents got hurt due to inconsiderate and unsafe driving.
Staff are on both gates each morning to greet children and monitor parking and we continue to be frustrated and astounded by the things that we see.
Please, let's make it our New Year's Goal to make it safer for everyone .

Cultural Celebration Day
Wed 11 Oct 2023Reminder:
Next Friday, 20th October we are holding a Cultural Celebration Day.
We would like to invite children to dress in any traditional dress that they may have. This could be a formal costume or dress or something historical that is traditional to your heritage.
Children can also dress in the uniform of any club or organisation that they may belong to, such as Scouts, Cubs, Brownies, Athletics club, Martial Arts Club etc.
If children play in a children's football team they can wear the kit of that club on Friday 20th, but normal football kits are not allowed. (ie: children cannot wear the kit of the team that they support)
As part of the cultural celebration day we have organised Bhangra Workshops for children from Yr 1 -Yr6 -this will be fun filled, fast paced and energetic!
We would also like to involve parents in our special day - We would like to hold a coffee morning and invite parents to bring in traditional food from their culture to share with each other - recipes to share would be wonderful too!
If you are parent that would like to join in with this event, please let the office staff know!
