History - Toys
Week beginning - 11.09.23
This week the children have explored the use of timelines and how events can be split into BC (Before Christ) and AD (Anno Domini) and placed onto the timeline easier. We then looked at key events from the 1960s and discussed how we were looking at the decade (10 years) of the 60s. As a class we discussed and sorted toys that were from the 60s and toys that are more recent and modern before comparing two dolls. The children then learnt about Sir Tim Berners-Lee and the impact of him creating the internet/world wide web has had on our toys.
Week beginning 18.09.23
This week began with the children learning about being safe when using smart toys such as games consoles and tablets. We created a list of information that we could share with others to help them and learnt a song to the tune of 'Frere Jacques'. We then discussed responses from the children's family members to learn more valued information about the 60s before exploring games from the 60's. The children all picked their favourite toy from the 60s! The children finished of this unit of work retrieving key information about the 60s to make an information leaflet before having chance to play with toys from the 60s with their classmates.
