I would like to welcome all children, parents and staff back to a new school year. I hope that many of you could enjoy some quality family time over the summer whether on holiday or at home.

It was lovely to welcome the children back yesterday. They were so excited to be back and looked so fresh and smart in new uniforms and shoes. Thank you to all parents for making sure their children have the correct uniform. It helps to instil a sense of belonging and sets the tone for learning.

Class teachers will be letting you know which days your children can come to school in P.E. kits. It is really important that it is correct kit - plain black shorts or joggers, red t shirt and black trainers. Hoodies, football kits and logo/designer sports clothes are not allowed, the normal school sweatshirt should be worn over the T shirt. If your child does not have the correct kit, they should come to school in normal uniform and can bring P.E clothes in a bag and change before and after the lesson.

Please continue to send in a snack for morning break each day. This should be as healthy as possible. Crisps and sweets are not allowed.

As the school year draws to a close, we would like to thank all of our families for their support in this most challenging of years.  We have really enjoyed working with your children and look forward to seeing them back in school on September 2nd. We send our Year 6 children on their way with all best wishes and good luck for secondary school. 

Many children have arrived at school with cards and gifts for school staff. Your generosity, thoughtfulness and kindness is much appreciated by us all. 

We also say goodbye to day to Miss Cullotty, who is embarking on an adventure in Dubai, and to Miss Duddy who is moving to another school for a promotion. We will miss them both and send them off with lots of love. 

Let's hope for a less disrupted year from September. In the meantime, enjoy your summer with family and friends and stay safe.

We have been notified of a 2nd positive case in class 2P. The children in 2A did not mix with the children in 2P yesterday and so can still return to school on Tuesday 20th July. However, the children in class 2P must now extend their isolation period until the end of 22nd July inclusive. We are sorry for the disruption and thank you for your continued support. 

We have a confirmed positive case of covid in a year 2 child. The year 2 classes will close for isolation from today. They can return on Tuesday 20th July for the last 2 days of term. 

We have been informed of a positive case in a year 6 pupil. Year 6 is now closed until Monday 19th July. Their isolation ends at the end of the day on 16th July. 

We currently have a vacancy for a lunchtime supervisor to start in September. Application forms and a job description are available from the school office. 

We have been notified of a positive covid case in a pupil in year 3 and have therefore closed the year 3 classes until Monday 12th July. They will come out of  isolation on Sunday 11th July. We ask all parents to continue to be vigilant and test their child if they display any Covid symptoms. If any child tests positive parents should phone school, or if outside school hours email school on covid@woodgate.bham.sch.uk as soon as possible so that we can make necessary arrangements. Thank you for your understanding and support. 

Today we became aware of a positive covid case in a staff member in class 3HT. As a result we have closed this class. The staff and children must self isolate for 10 days and return to school Monday 28th June. Work is uploaded onto the J2E platform and paper copies are available. Lunch packs are also available to those that are eligible for FSM. Parents just need to contact school to let us know. that you would like a lunch pack. 

Staff will be making contact with families to offer any support that may be required.

Dear Parents

We are delighted that we have managed to reach half term without any positive cases of covid in school. This means that the children have had over 6 weeks of uninterrupted learning. The children have thoroughly enjoyed being back to normal routines, learning and spending social times with their friends. Many of them are now ready for a half term break to recharge their batteries. I hope that you received your box of bagels or cereals that were kindly provided by The Magic breakfast Club.  Those entitled to a free school meals voucher have also received those. We look forward to seeing everyone back in school on Monday 7th June for another 6 weeks of learning and hopefully some sunshine too!
