The School Day

The school day begins at: 08:45

Morning Break is between: 10:30 - 10:45

Lunchtime is between: 12:15 - 13:15

The school day ends at: 15:15

Science: Materials: Mixtures and Separation. 

In Science, the children have been learning to identify different types of mixtures, from their description. They have also investigated sieving, filtering, solutions and dissolving.

HISTORY - Greek Day Visitor

As part of our work on the Trojan Wars, we enjoyed a visit from Murray Edwards, who brought the story of The Trojan Wars to life through some drama, with the children taking on the roles of key characters in the story. The children also took part in some hoplite training, to become part of a fearsome Greek Phalanx.

Design and Technology

For DT this term we made spaghetti bolognese. The children developed their own recipes after taste-testing some well-known brands. We cut our own vegetables and cooked the ingredients together.

It tasted delicious!

There are three homework expectations in Year 5 for each week: read twice a week , weekly spellings and maths.

New spellings will be sent home on a Monday for testing on Friday.

One piece of maths homework will be sent home on a Friday for the following week.

This can be submitted to the homework tray at any time before the Friday.

Year 5 Extra Curricular Activities

Year 5 have had the opportunity to access lots of before and after school clubs:

• Gardening Club

We have used lots of colour and details with paint, felt pens and textures. She is the kindest witch who invites animals she meets along the way to join her on a broomstick ride. Use the talk cards and answer the questions.
