    Homework in Year 4

Homework is an integral part of learning and allows parents and carers to support the work that is happening in school and to see how your children are getting on.

Homework will have 3 parts: spellings, reading and a maths worksheet.

Spellings will be given each Wednesday to be tested the following Wednesday, please practise at home (spare copies are always available).

Maths homework that supports the week's learning will be sent home on  a Wednesday to be returned by the following Wednesday. This will frequently be times tables based to support in preparation for the Year 4 MTC (Multiplication Tables Check).

Reading should be a daily routine, with adults sharing books alongside children reading at their own level for at least 15 minutes. Please  complete an entry in the reading record every day so that your child can experience gaining recognition in the form of Reading Ambassador rewards.

Times tables should be practised regularly in preparation for the Multiplication Check in the Summer term. By the end of the year, children are expected to know up to their 12x. Children can use Times Tables Rockstars (TTRS) at home to support them with this.

    PE

PE is on Monday and Wednesday in Year 4. Please send children in PE kits on those days.

Due to Health and Safety reasons, children who do not come to school with the correct PE kit will not be able to participate in PE lessons.

Children must have a red top, black shorts or joggers and black trainers (not pumps). Please do not send your child in with sports tops or patterned joggers.

If they do not have the correct kit mentioned above, children are to come to school in their school uniform with their PE kit in a bag and they can then get changed for PE before the lesson.

Children must not wear earrings for P.E lessons and long hair must be tied back.

Look at all the things we learn about in Year 4!
